The natural beauty of Northern Cape Breton Island is hard to match. The combination of ocean, mountain and forest intermix to form outstanding vistas. ![]() Cape Breton Highlands National Park provides a selection of trails suitable for all ages and skill levels, many of the trails are marked with placards. Headlands and Capes create overviews of the ocean and colourful cliffs. These locations create natural look offs for viewing whales as well as eagles, osprey and other sea and costal birds.
Coastal fishing boats and large ocean ships may be observed. The sandy beaches of Aspy Bay attract many of our outdoor lovers: swimming, sea kayaking and scuba diving and beach combing, whale watching and deep sea fishing are popular activities. The coastal scenery may be enjoyed by cycling along the coastline photographing and recording your vacation memories at a relaxed pace. Evening and morning bring an opportunity to photograph the sunrise and sunset from an ocean setting. Our clear skies and low light pollution is the right ingredient for star gazing. Dingwall Beach... this solitary beach forms part of the barrier to North Harbour as it reaches to touch the remaining portion of Four Mile beach. An ideal spot to become one with nature. Gypsum formations... as you approach Dingwall you will notice many white rock formations - this is gypsum. It was mined in this area from 1931 to 1956.
